Post Thanksgiving Thankfulness
If this kindness kitty doesn't make you smile, you might be a zombie.
I know we aren't supposed to give thanks after Thanksgiving. I should be all tapped out. But I've been working on something today which has made me realize how lucky I am and how happy I am to be carving out an existence in the writing world. So I have to show my appreciation. Man, I'm glad we didn't call Thanksgiving "Appreciationsgiving". That does not roll well off the tongue.

Anyways - so we are FINALLY getting around to fulfilling our Rockethub rewards from this past summer's Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! picture book crowd-funding campaign. Going through the list again of family, friends and complete strangers who funded my book is astonishingly humbling. I've sent out an update email to ask everyone for their addresses so we can mail their books, thank you cards and posters (once they are printed). Furthermore, I've decided to make sure I personally reply to each person who sends me their address so they know I got their reply. Moreover, I'm thanking them again because I can't thank everyone enough. Literally. I'm so full of thanks, I'm sweating gravy. Also, I just used "furthermore" and "moreover" in the same paragraph. That's a 50 pt score in blogbingo.

What's so neat about this is, by doing these personal replies, I've recognized several names of fuelers who've had stories on knowonder! These are published writers or aspiring writers, just like me, who've taken time out of their days and money out of their banks to help us publish Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! I honestly feel so proud to be a part of this general writing community and I'm thrilled to find it to be such a warm, fun place.

What's even cooler about these fellow knowonder! writers is I've remembered their stories so I've been able to mention the titles and tell them via email that I honestly did enjoy their work. One writer replied to my reply and told me my comment "made her day". I love that! Maybe she'll get energized today and finish a manuscript and become famous. I'd better be in that thank you page at the front of the book! HA!

I don't really know what my point here is. I'm just having fun doing this and I've enjoyed the little small connections it's brought into my world.

Do what you love to do and don't underestimate the power of a sincere, kind word.
